Friends came in from TN & NV and were aching for soft shells. We had all watched Stoney Creek's episode on DDD. My friend, Mike who hadn't had them in over 30 years, called to verify they had soft shells and was told they just came in that morning. And off we went! It is at the foot of Stoney Creek Bridge and right next to the marina. You can watch egrets diving for their supper and watch what's going on at the marina when you sit on the deck. Just look past the chain link fence across the street and pretend it's not there. The view is relaxing. It ain't fancy, but it sure is worth a visit! Catherine, our amazing waitress, asked if we wanted them sautéed or deep fried. Our soft shells came out crunchy & not greasy! The cook/chef did an excellent job! One plate had paper thins! Those are the ones that had just sloughed. They serve the freshest iced tea in small individual pitchers. Their cole slaw is just like my Mom used to whip up using a little bit of dressing & celery seed. The fries were perfect and malt vinegar only enhanced them! The crab balls had NO filler! Their crab seasoning is their private mix. It has a bit more fresh black pepper & I love it! So now my choices are ranked their's, J O & then Old Bay. You must order at least one of their desserts. Catherine informed us that a local lady makes them. The hummingbird cake was the perfect ending to our fabulous meal. The butter cream frosting was slightly sweet and complemented the firm, lightly nutty cake. The selection changes, so be open minded. Someone in these reviews mentioned a smell inside the restaurant. Sometimes when a building gets older and is at or over the water that happens. I highly recommend Stoney Creek. This gem is now my "go to" local seafood place.

Ohhhh-- I use to think that Timbuktu had the best crab cakes... and they are pretty good... totally diff flavor than Stoney Creek. Stoney Creek-- actually puts other ingredients in their crab cakes and they do not distract from the flavor of the crab. Delicious crab. I also like how this place makes their own "old bay" seasoning. If I lived in MD, I'd be a regular. I loved the little building.... It was a shack on the water!

It was over a year ago that I came across the Stoney Creek Inn during my travels along the east coast. The gem that I stumbled upon has yet to be rivaled. I came for the crab cakes and was not disappointed! There is more breading in the two saltine crackers they give you than the crab cakes. The chucks of crab are impressive. I traveled all the way from California to come back for a second time.

We were seated and no one came to the table for 15 minutes. This was the case for the tables next to us. Hire more staff, especially for a Saturday night. When we left no one even asked why. We will never go here again.

Wow! Glad Jenna emailed me to let me know they are under new management. Jenna and her fiancé Dan are doing a fabulous job as the new owners. They are super friendly and very nice to talk to. Me and my fiancé both had crab cakes and they were truly incredible. Very moist and flavorful no cocktail sauce needed. The sides were great too. French fries, baked potato, and cole slaw all delicious. Jenna also makes a homemade pumpkin bread pudding that is spectacular! I will definitely be going back on a regular basis.

Hands down, my favorite restaurant. I used to live a couple miles away and would take everybody I knew here and they all loved it. They have the best cream of crab soup. It's really thick and more like a chowder with huge clumps of crab. Crabs are good, but I prefer to get their stuffed shrimp (jumbo shrimp stuffed with crab imperial & served with a crab cake) just b/c I can get crabs at so many other places. Pair that with sweet potato fries and sweet tea and I'm in heaven!!!!

Saw on DDD and decided when we were in Baltimore we just had to try it. Did the outside seating which was fun, and had the steamed crabs. Delicious!

Triple D did not let me down with this one. I always ask what was featured on the show; in this case it was the crab cake and the server, who was great, enthusiastically recommended it. I took it and also took her recommendation for the side dish which was not on the menu, bacon-jalapeno potato salad. The potato salad wasn't spicy, in fact I couldn't taste jalapenos, but it was delicious... duh, it has bacon in it. One of our party asked if the crab cake came with tartar sauce, to which our server responded that no it didn't because it didn't need it. She was confident and rightly so. It was great and had plenty of crab. This place isn't cheap but you won't regret coming here.

I'm a Marylander, born and bred, and I know and love crabs and crab cakes. I have lived in PA for 15 years and came back to visit my son in Glen Burnie. He and his girl recommended this place because I was craving crab cakes, and it did not disappoint. The BEST crab cakes I've ever had and I have had them all over the eastern seaboard. This is not a fancy place. It is a little sea shack on the waterfront. It is a place that knows how to make the stuff Maryland is famous for. And they don't forget the special touches I was homesick for -- Old Bay on the table as a staple condiment. Reservations recommended.

I had heard this place had been sold by the original owners (Bill & Mary Green), to a new couple (Jenna & Dan). So I decided to stop in and see if anything has changed. I'm not sure if the new owners are just going through the growing pains of learning the restaurant business, but my visit this time left a lot to be desired... Before going I talked to a friend about his experience with the new management. He said he tried stopping by to make a take out order. But he said they turned him away saying: "We're too busy, we don't have time to do take out." To which he and I both pondered: How exactly can you be too busy to do a take out order? Doesn't require a table, doesn't require a waiter... All you have to do is toss the food in a box...? This was to be a sign of things to come. So when we stopped by, before we ever even got in the restaurant, we saw people sitting outside waiting on tables, which was something I don't ever remember happening under Bill & Mary. We got to the hostess, and we were given a beeper and told there was a 15 minute wait, also something I don't remember Bill & Mary ever needing to use. We noticed that about half the tables inside were empty, so we just casually mentioned that we didn't mind sitting inside. The hostess said she couldn't seat us and noted it was because they had a small kitchen. Yet another thing Bill & Mary never made excuses over. After about a 20 minute wait, we were finally seated and our order was taken. But then we waited another 45 minutes just to get our food... Really...? We asked our waiter about 30 minutes into the wait if our food was coming soon. To which he apologized and again mentioned that they have a really small kitchen and it takes a while to get food out, which was starting to sound like the new ownership's theme song... When the food finally did make it out, it tasted like they were pretty much following Bill and Mary's old recipes. But even though the servers were polite and friendly, the over an hour wait just to get to a table and get served pretty much took the shine off of any of the old charm Stoney Creek Inn used to have. Hopefully the the new owners will get the wrinkles ironed out and ask Bill & Mary for a few pointers as to how they managed to run the place for so many years "with such a small kitchen"...

Another TV Food Find for me! This place is way off the beaten path, but still at 1:30 on a Thursday afternoon the place was packed. No doubt, it's a chains cosy crab shack, the staff was amazing, and the food was terrific. The real charm of this place is to go during the spring and summer season when the deck is open. Sit outside with a cold beer and smash open crabs like your tunneling out of prison. This is Maryland shore 101 and the charm is addictive. This is the more industrial back Bay Area though not the Solomon's of DelMarVa. I enjoyed the cream of crab soup, think New England chowder then substitute crab for clams. It was outstanding, add a few shakes of the old bay on every table and it is even better. This was my second "crab" eatery on this trip overall the best place based on atmosphere (yes even in December) hospitality, and menu. Alas, although fantastic the crab cake came in second in my humble opinion. Hey who cares the place is a gem. Go get some wonderful fresh delicious sea food. Say hi to the adorable Jenna the waitress. Get out your frustrations on some poor defenseless and tasty crabs. And enjoy, life is too short for mediocre. FoodDude!

Nice little place tucked away in a corner. Drove right past it the first time out. lol Great friendly service. Wonderful home cooked food. The food is cooked to order per each order and it is wonderful. If you want 30 second service and crap food stick to the drive thru windows. If you want a nice home cooked - comfort food type meal and you actually like to take time enjoy the company your are with this is the place for you. The crab cakes and crab balls are awesome. Super friendly - very accommodating staff. Definitely going back.

I love this little place and all the staff. My 5 yr old especially loves their steamed shrimp and they have little toys and coloring books for the kids that are bored. KENO is a plus! For it being where it is and the size that it is they push out fresh seafood and yummy desserts. My favorite waitress is Jenna, she's always bubbly and quick on her feet. It's not The Ocenaire downtown so don't get thrown back by the decor but it is quaint, sweet and I go at least 4-5 times a month! I always get the crabcakes and I've never been disappointed!

UPDATE: Went back this afternoon for a quick meal and the quality is just as good during the off season. Service was quick and friendly, as were plate times. I spoke with Mary and Bill, the owners, who explained to me about their food and the high quality for standards used at Stoney Creek. I found it relaxing to know that there are no inexpensive mass produced ingredients in all of their dishes. Even during the off season, only fresh ingredients are used, with no difference to flavor. 5 stars, will be coming back for crabs shortly!

Absolutely the best meal I've had on this visit to Maryland, thus far. The lump crab cakes were delish, creamy and pleasantly seasoned with oldbay type seasoning. Yum!!!!

Ok I'm not even going to lie. My gf and I have been dying to eat some steamed crab ever since we saw this place feature on DDD a million years ago. So last night around midnight we said, "F$&@ IT! Let's just leave for Baltimore in the morning and have ourselves a little road tip." We did our research and explored their online menu... No mention of steamed crab... We got concerned. Until we noticed under their Hours it said something about how they stop serving steamed crab a hour before closing. Great! So the next morning we were off to Baltimore. 3 1/2 hr. trip. When we pulled up, my first impression was that in the summer the parking area is probably filled with bad ass bikers and big tittied bikini women. We walked in and were immediately greeted by a young guy who would be our waiter. Great server, never asked his name. Anyway, the hostess took us to our seats. They sat us right next to the heater which was awesome. My gf is always cold so I knew this would not be an issue today. Thank you! We were the only ones there. Awesome! I cant stand people. We looked through the menu and still no mention of steamed crab. No special menu or anything. When our waiter came to introduce himself he confirmed what we had feared. Steamed crab season is OVER. We were bummed. We never really considered it not being summer being an issue since their website said they brought in crab from the gulf, or something. Ehh, who cares?! My Gf and I love great fresh seafood and we drove a long way for fresh seafood and don't regret it one bit! We started with fried calamari which my gf feel in love with. It was very good and very fresh. I was disappointed that there were no tentacles but either-way, my chubby ass had no problem inhaling it. My gf got bacon wrapped scallops. I tried 2. I'm not a huge scallop fan but they were as delicious as any other bacon wrapped scallop. The Macaroni salad which they make there was really great too. I got the stuffed shrimp which is stuffed with their crab cake. We also got a crab cake to share since that's what they are known for. Rightfully so! They were really incredible. Like no other crab cake I've had before. So much crab!! We will definitely be back to eat some steamed crab on butcher paper this summer! I also really want to try their crab pretzel. I can't wait for summer!

Great food! Under new ownership, now. The hush puppies are a must! The steamed crabs are amazing and cooked perfectly. Would definitely go back!

Was checking this place out as a possible "drink by the water" spot. Well, there is a deck but its not right on the water. You have to look through the boat yard next door - and its chain link fence. Also there was a funny smell inside and no customers. I know this is a popular place with some and not liked by others. For me I think I will try other places before I think about returning. P.S. Thought there was a leeeetle bit of a smell inside....

II checked out the Stoney Creek Inn. My server was Catherine and Stephen was the other server. They were great very friendly and very efficient service. I was pleased with my lunch other than the fries, they were soggy and over cooked.
